EXPERIENCE
CO-OP Researcher, IBM Watson
Research, Hawthorne, NY, 2000 - 2002
Worked on the design and development of a sonification toolkit
used to create musical sound maps. Developed multivariate data
visualization environments and integrated musical sound maps establishing
multimodal applications.
Graduate Student Researcher,
University of California, Santa Cruz, CA, 1995 –
2002
Designed and developed isosurface visualization tools used to
explore uncertainty in scientific data sets. Researched sonification
toolkits and multimodal environments with a focus on increasing
data representation. Designed and developed a musical sonification
toolkit and multimodal applications for exploring the use of sound
to enhance visual representations of data.
Virtual Storefront Research,
Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories
Murray Hill, NJ, summer 1997
Created three-dimensional model of a virtual store in VRML. Added
behaviors to objects using VRML, vrmlscript, and Java.
Alternative Web Paradigm Research,
Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories
Holmdel, NJ, summer 1996
Designed and developed a prototype version of a web environment
using Java that allows users to travel a subway line on the New
York Subway.
Search Engine GUI Research, AT&T
Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ, summer 1995
Researched methods to search textual information in a graphical
environment. Learned about World Wide Web paradigms.
End-user Programming Research,
AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ, summer 1994
Researched the development of an end-user visual programming language
for a distributed work environment. Designed graphical interaction
for environment with X Windows.
Color map Synchronization Research,
AT&T Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, NJ, summer 1993
Researched synchronization of color maps in a shared distributed
environment. Developed software to synchronize color maps by minimizing
the number of pixels needed to render an image.
